Create view (simple options) (dialog)

The translation grid allows you to edit the contents of a translation document manually. Translation documents, however, often contain a multitude of segments, and may be hard to navigate. The Create view dialog allows you to create a view with filtered or sorted segments of the selected translation documents, so that you can work with it easily. After creation, these views can be opened from the Views tab in the Translations pane of Project home.

Note: A view is more or less a ‘virtual document’, a unit composed together from various segments in the different documents of your project. For more on views, see the Views topic in the Explanations section of memoQ Help.

MemoQ create view simple Create view (simple options) (dialog)

Open a local project. In the Documents tab of the Translations pane in Project home, select one or more documents, and then, below the document list, click the Create view command link. Alternatively, you can right-click the selected documents, and choose Create view from the popup menu.

When you click Create view, memoQ displays a simple choice of options, which offer you the most common settings to create a view.

Important: To display all options to create a view, click the Advanced options command links at the bottom of the Create view dialog.

The simple settings are the following:

· Name of the view text box: Type a name for the view. This is the name that memoQ displays on the list of views in the Views tab of the Translations pane in Project home.
· Simply glue documents together radio button: This creates a single view that contains all segments from the documents you selected in the Documents tab. The segments follow each other in the same order as in the original documents. First come the segments from the first document, second come the segments from the second document, and so on.
· Extract repetitions radio button: Select this radio button if you want a view that contains those segments that occur twice or more in the selected documents. If you select Extract repetitions, the Only one occurrence of each check box becomes available. Tick this check box if you do not want to see all occurrences of each repeated segment: when this check box is on, memoQ will include a repeating segment only once, and that will be the first occurrence of the segment.
· Only rows that are… radio button: You can create a view that contains only those segments that are in a specific status by the time when the view is created. The choices are the following:

Confirmed: Extracts segments that are confirmed.

Not confirmed: Extracts segments that have any status but not Confirmed or Proofread.

Pre-translated: Extracts segments that were filled in through pre-translation and were not changed since.

Not started: Extracts segments that have not yet been touched by the translator.

Locked: Extracts locked segments only.

Not locked: Extracts segments that are not locked at the time of creating the view.

Not a repetition: Extracts segments that occur only once in the selected documents (these are unique segments).

Important: The views are static – when memoQ creates a view on the basis of the status of segments, it extracts all segments that belong to the chosen status at one point. For example, if you create a view of confirmed segments, but a segment becomes Edited after the view was created, the segment remains in the view (although it is not Confirmed any longer).

· Split document radio b
utton: Click this radio button to extract part of the selected document. This option works only if one document was selected when you clicked Create view. You specify the desired part of the document by typing the number of the first and the number of the last segment in the document. Type or select the number of the first segment in the First row spin box, and type the number of the last segment in the Last row spin box.

Click OK to create a view with the selected settings, or click Cancel to close the dialog without creating a view. Click Advanced options to display the full version of the Create view dialog, and fine-tune the view options.
